Behind The Working Leader

Meet the person behind the channel.

The Working Leader is written, researched, and hosted by Matt — a manager who learned to lead people the slow, hard way, and built the guide he wishes someone had handed him on day one.

The Working Leader is written, researched, and hosted by Matt — a manager who spent years leading a real team through real change before turning that experience into a channel for the next person figuring it out.

Every episode starts the same way: a specific situation a manager actually runs into — a promotion, a hard conversation, a delegation call gone wrong — researched against real evidence, not recycled leadership platitudes. Nothing goes into an episode that wouldn't hold up if you tried it on your own team on Monday morning.

"I learned to manage people the slow way — getting it wrong, fixing it, and doing it again. This channel exists so you don't have to learn it that slowly."

Before The Working Leader, that meant hiring and firing, building a culture people didn't want to leave, and having more hard conversations than any leadership seminar ever prepared him for. The channel — and the twenty-season map behind it — is the guide he wishes someone had handed him on day one.

Why this exists

Most people are promoted for being excellent at the job — and then left to figure out the entirely different job of leading the people who do it. The result is a lot of good people quietly struggling, learning by trial and error, and paying for it in stress and turnover. The Working Leader is built to shorten that learning curve: to give first-time and frontline managers the real situations, the confidence, and the exact words, one week at a time.

How we teach — See It. Say It. Lead.

Every lesson runs on one idea: leadership is a language you can learn. Your team never experiences your intentions — only your words. So we take a real situation, hand you the exact words to say, and let the confidence grow from there. See it. Say it. Lead. See the method →
